In 1981 Dawn and Jarrett Thompson made a life changing decision. They decided to move their Old South Pointer Farms, a high profile nationally acclaimed bird-dog training facility from Florida to Texas. The small, rural community of Rosanky was the perfect choice. Here Dawn and Jarrett successfully grew Old South Pointer Farms into a Texas legend.

Dawn played the key role in the care and maintenance of sometimes up to 300 bird-dogs, while Jarrett focused on the training program. Dawn’s faithfulness to their care was relentless, her love for animals even more evident. It was also very evident that there was something more, a dream she shared so often with Jarrett, to someday have her own boarding kennel, a place where folks could bring their pet with trust and confidence in getting quality care. A home away from home, with a foundation built on precisely what a dog offers his master “unconditional love.”

In 1995 that dream became a reality. Best Friends Boarding Kennel was established. In just a few short years Best Friends became an icon in superb pet care for the surrounding areas of Central Texas. A dream come true for a person whose “life is Best Friends.”
